Join attorney Karen L. Hart to learn how to prepare effective demand letters that will help you get paid and keep you out of trouble.  Karen will cover the demand process, structuring different types of demand letters, including demand for payment, acceleration notices, and return of collateral or other property,  avoiding liability under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act,  and avoiding usury counterclaims.  Karen will help you understand and avoid typical demand pitfalls and mistakes and will help you write stronger, more effective demand letters that will streamline the collection process and increase your bottom line. 

 

Presenters

Karen Hart, Esq. is an attorney with Bell Nunnelly in Dallas, Texas. She earned her J.D. degree from The University of Texas School of Law in 2001 and her bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at El Paso. Her practice areas include business litigation and appeals, creditor’s rights and international issues. In addition to general business contract and payment disputes, Karen counsels clients on real estate disputes, including construction lien and bond claims, lien priority disputes, foreclosure suits, and lis pendens. Karen received the National Association of Professional Women’s 2011 Woman of the Year Award.
