designed for attendees to gather and network by like industries.
Please note that these are not “closed” group
meetings (unless indicated), and anyone is welcome to attend
any of these sessions should the topic and/or speaker be of
interest. Except for the International Utilities Group Meeting
noted below, all Industry Day Sessions are held Monday, June
11, from 2:00-5:00pm.
15021. Advertising/Media
Please join us for an informative session featuring two speakers
each discussing separate issues relevant to the industry.
When a business decides it wants to place media advertising
through a media buying company or advertising agency, there
is a potential for each of the three participants to be impacted
by financial problems of one of the other participants. This
session, presented by Mark Berman, Esq. of Nixon Peabody,
LLP, will examine the tri-partite relationship, identify the
risks to each and ways credit professionals can protect themselves
from another's demise. The second half of the session will
be presented by Rudet Fountain from American Check Management.
Rudet will give an overview on credit card processing.

Ever been standing in front of a room of sales reps and felt
certain that they were text messaging a customer rather than
listening to your presentation? Then this is the session for
you! Michelle Achondo, CBA of Wilbur-Ellis Company and Kelly
Simon, CCE, Cutter & Buck, will show you how to create
a fun, interactive and informative training session for your
sales force by using a game show format. You'll learn that
this format not only builds teamwork with your credit and
sales force, but it also builds morale and professional development
for your credit staff as well.

Join this session as Lawrence Gottleib and Jay Indyke of Cooley Godward Kronish, LLP provide the latest news on bankruptcy issues. Bill Lenhart of BDO Seidman, LLP will be present second on lien financing and pensions in relation to bankruptcy.
15024. Building/Construction
Representatives from a national builder will speak about the
processing of documents and other required steps in order
for you, the contractor, subcontractor or material supplier,
to get paid timely. Current economic trends as they relate
to national builders and the construction industry will also
be discussed. The second half of the session will feature
senior claims representatives presenting advice and suggestions
on how to promptly get paid on bond claims without use of
attorneys and expensive litigation, and what can cause delays
on the processing of your claim and how to avoid them. There
will also be a panel and round table discussion on the issues
and challenges on accepting cash, COD and other forms of prepayment.
Items discussed will include reconciliation responsibility,
benefits and disadvantages of accepting cash, checks and credit
cards, fraud prevention and technology tools in cash sales
management.
15025. Drugs/Cosmetics/Pharmaceuticals
Join this group for an informative session in which Wanda
Borges, Esq. of Borges & Associates, LLC and Bruce Nathan,
Esq. of Lowenstein Sandler PC will present a credit management
law question-and-answer roundtable. Any and all topics effecting
today’s credit professionals will be addressed.

Distributors
Please note that a gathering for anyone in the Electrical
Wholesalers & Distributors arena is being held from 12:30-1:45pm.
During the Industry Day segment, from 2:00-5:00pm, the Electrical
Wholesalers & Distributors have opted to attend the Industry
Day session in conjunction with the Building & Construction

Madeline Sprague, CTP, Vice President Global Trade Services at JP Morgan Chase Bank N.A., will discuss U.S. Regulatory Compliance for Domestic and International Trade. You are sure to walk away from this session with valuable information to take back to your company. Then, Bruce Nathan, Esq. of Lowenstein Sandler PC will continue this session with a lively discussion on a variety of legal issues facing the food industry.

Laura Pedersen, Global Banking Officer for First National Bank of Omaha, will give attendees an insight into the world of international trade transactions by providing a working knowledge of legal and economic issues exporters need to consider, such as: Incoterms and their impact on international trade, proforma invoices, international payment terms, understanding of documentary collections, political and customers risks, FX exposures and risk mitigation, knowing the score with letters of credits... and much more.

Join this group for a two-part session that will feature Wanda
Borges, Esq. of Borges & Associates, LLC giving an overview
of the various issues of bankruptcy as well as a preference
update. The second part of the session will give participants
the opportunity to take part in a round table discussion of
best practices.
15031. Publishing
The session will be a combination of presentations followed
by a panel discussion and/or a Q&A session. Topics will
include identity theft as it affects both online and traditional
business channels, business safeguards relating to identity
theft and mail fraud, PCI security standards related to preventing
identity theft and what businesses can do to minimize losses
due to identity theft. The discussion will relate to both
personal identity theft as well as business identity theft.
15032. Wholesale/Distribution
Michael H. Traison, Esq. and Larry Dudek, Esq. of Miller,
Canfield, Paddock and Stone will provide some tips and techniques
about how to effectively and cost efficiently pursue a collection
claim through the lawsuit process. This will include pointers
on the importance of the role of the credit manager in assisting
with production of documents, providing discovery responses,
testimony in deposition and trial. The panel will further
discuss issues of timing, court selection, use of motions
and appeals.
