July 17, 2012: Columbia, MD—The National Association of Credit Management (NACM) has recognized D'Ann Johnson, CBF of West Jordan, UT, as the recipient of the 2012 CBF Designation of Excellence Award. Johnson was honored at NACM's 116th Annual Credit Congress and Exposition, held in Grapevine, TX, June 10-13, 2012.
The Credit Business Fellow (CBF) designation is NACM's intermediate professional certification. Individuals earning the CBF have met specific academic and participation-based benchmarks, and are knowledgeable about and have contributed to the field of business credit. NACM's Designation of Excellence Awards honor those designation holders who strive for excellence in all aspects of their professional development. Based on her noteworthy record of accomplishments and service, D'Ann Johnson was chosen as this year's outstanding CBF designee.
Johnson is a credit manager with Roofers Supply in Salt Lake City and a member of local NACM affiliate NACM Business Credit Services - Salt Lake City. In all aspects, Johnson is committed to the tenets of lifelong learning and professional development. She has served numerous terms on NACM education and membership committees. She has also served as the chair of their Intermountain Credit Education League, whose sole purpose, according to D'Ann herself, is "to educate and promote education for those in the credit and credit-related fields."
Numerous testimonials from coworkers, customers and others in her community attest to Johnson's dedication to everyone around her. Johnson has been tenacious in her own pursuit of continuing education as well as for those she works with. "She wanted all of us to have the sense of accomplishment and training that she had the chance of receiving and was continuing to work on," said one coworker explaining how Johnson was instrumental in bringing in opportunities formerly unavailable.
Johnson has been active in NACM since 2004 when she started volunteering in industry credit groups, starting in the diesel engines and related products group, then moving along to the contractors and building related suppliers group, of which she is currently chairperson. She also recently completed her undergraduate degree in business management from Western Governors University.
Professionally, as credit manager at Roofers Supply, D'Ann manages $8.5 million in accounts receivable while overseeing the company's credit team and establishing the company's credit policies and procedures. Furthermore, D'Ann trains and mentors both her credit team, and her customers' credit teams, in the skills necessary for effective trade credit management. "We offer training classes for our customers so that they can come in and learn about liens, or learn about how to put a contract together, or how to make a collection call," said D'Ann in her interview, proving that her passion for education isn't merely limited to the people working in her own office. "The more people know, the better businesspeople they can be, and it makes my job simpler."
